The Elcometer 6015 is a dual angle instrument that characterizes surfaces at 20° and 60° giving superb resolution and the flexibility to measure any surface from matt to mirror finish. By measuring the complex interaction of a surface with light, the Elcometer 6015 calculates:
Brightness - by measuring with more accuracy and repeatability than traditional glossmeters, the Elcometer 6015 compensates for curvature or positional errors.
Light Scattering - microstructures within the coating can cause the surface to be perceived as being of lower quality. When this characteristic is not detected with a traditional glossmeter, the light scattering meter quantifies this numerically.
Image sharpness (DOI) - in some conditions, traditional glossmeters quantify visibly different surfaces with the same gloss value. When these surfaces are measured using a DOI meter, an accurate 'fingerprint' of the surface is generated. DOI identifies the effect of gloss, haze, polish marks and 'orange peel' effect on a coating.
Peak Specular Reflectance - provides a reflectance value regardless of curvature, sample position, haze or DOI.
Goniophotometric Profile - this graphical 'fingerprint' records subtle variations in the quality of a surface by measuring the intensity of reflected light at a series of angles.
